Gottlieb System 3 Repair Guides

Though i have to admit, this certainly isn’t
the most complete repair guide. But at this
time it’s as far as i can take it. There is a
very limited amount of information on
Gottlieb System 3 pinball games. And
you don’t see a lot of these games out there.
I have only repaired a limited number of them.
So my repair experiences are not as deep
as say the more common Williams and Bally
games. But here it is:

If anyone has any additional repair
information they can add, please email
me. I would love to hear about it and add it
to the guide. Hopefully this repair guide
will grow with time. I find after i do a
repair guide, the popularity of that system
of game rises a bit, which helps feed
the repair guide, making it better. I certainly
hope this is the case for Gottlieb system3
pinballs too.

I would like to add that Gottlieb System3
is an excellent pinball system. Certainly
on par (if not better) than Williams WPC.
Unfortunately the weakness is in the game
design and themes themselves. I mean
what were they thinking when they did
some of these strange titles (like Operation
Thunder and Shaq Attack).

I think the System 4 Repair Guide that is available at http://marvin3m.com/sys3 is a big help. I bought Cueball Wizard a couple of years ago and I quickly realized that the electronics on the game were way beyond anything I had dealt with on the Gottlieb System 1 games. I still don’t have any of the main boards working (other than the primary and auxiliary power supply boards) but the tips contained in the guide provide a lot of help. For example, I had did not know that the LED was suppose to continually blink not stay on all of the time. I really appreciate all of the effort. I now have a chance of fixing what is really a great game.
