Playfield Restoration Pics
Got this off of RGP. Gives me hope for my work. If I could just get around to it.

Subject: FYI: First Pics Improved Through-Hole WPC Driver Board
I know you guys are able to repair your WPC driver boards; However, giving
a heads up on our latest redesigned product which can be used to replace
WPc89 & WPC-S driver boards.
We just got the board in and here is a picture of the front and back of the
blank PCB
https://home.comcast.net/~rottendog/wdp089.htm
We are still not sure of the final cost of the completed board as the
assembly house has not pulled together the final numbers. It will, though,
be less expensive than anything else out there.
Unless unforeseen major design defects are found, these should be available
in February 2006 time frame.
Design changes include:
-Discrete diodes replacing all Bridge Rectifiers
-Low Voltage Dropout +5V regulator - needs only 0.5V supply above +5V!
-Lower inrush current into all voltage regulators
-Logic Level FET’s simplifying the coil drive circuits
-Test points for all voltage supplies
-Centrally located LED’s with attached test points
-Beefed up ground plane (almost entire bottom side)
Again, just giving the community a “heads up”.

PS this is a ROTTENDOG AMUSEMENTS product and is clearly marked so. It is
unmistakably a new design which in no way purports to be a Williams or Bally
product!
PSS let’s fire up the soldering iron.

Thanks much Bryan although it isn’t art or talent IMO… My X-old lady
laughed when she asked me to draw a cat, she said “Are you serious?
This looks like a three year old drew it!!?” I have NO artistic talent.
I do have a steady hand and LOTS of time. I don’t create art, I just
fill in/coppy what’s missing, just like paint by numbers. Nothing more
than that and mixing colors well.
The thing I hope people take away from my sharing this work is that
ANYONE can restore a PlayField, just:
Watch your TOP videos:
http://www.marvin3m.com/top
Read your Repair/Restoration Guides:
http://marvin3m.com/fix.htm
Take full advantage of all the resources here in RGP history and/or
feel free to ask before you step. After that:
Practice on old junk PF’s first until you get it right and feel
comfortable. “This ain’t rocket science people” Say like Emeral from
that cooking show… BAM!!!!! I’m still a newbie so if I can do it,
anyone can do it, If you say you can’t ever do that, you never will.
“You can’t have no in your heart” Say like Joe Dirt.
Happy New Year all, Karl.
